I have graduated this year from the University of Exeter with a BA in French and Italian. Speaking French has opened my eyes to France’s history, politics, art and way of life. I enjoy language learning and appreciate the beauty of vocabulary and grammar patterns.
I am aware that my own culture colours the view from which I look at the world, I believe that language learning allows us to understand life from a different perspective without omnipresent cultural and social predispositions.
From 2018-2019 I spent one year working as an english language teacher in an Italian high school close to Milan. I am therefore very familiar with the ways in which young minds best acquire foreign languages. I have first-hand experience teaching non-english speakers ranging between the ages of 6-60 in both a 1-on-1 and large classroom environment.
At University, I have taken part in tutor programmes with younger students to provide advice and guidance with their French studies. This process has made me very familiar with the most effective and efficient ways to make the learning process both fun and memorable!
As a Modern Foreign Languages student myself, I understand that a mixture of vocabulary tests, grammar practice, visual, audio and active learning are the best ways to effectively acquire a foreign language. I understand that making mistakes is inevitable and of upmost importance throughout this process!
