My background

I am a qualified secondary school teacher and my specialist subject is Religious studies, however I am also capable to teaching History up to KS5. Prior to teaching I worked as a Learning Support Assistant for seven years with children aged between 4 and 16 and currently work as a private and agency tutor with children ranging in age and ability between the ages of 7 and 16. I therefore have the skills of a classroom teacher in terms of building and following a curriculum but also the necessary understanding to work with individuals or small groups to meet more specific targets.
I have successfully tutored online throughout the lock-down period and have an array of resources which would be extremely suitable to help KS2 students catch-up on content missed during the last four months, I can also offer some assistance with KS3 students in English and Humanities.
I have a proven track record of helping children to engage in education whilst in a home setting or who otherwise haven't felt comfortable in mainstream school and helping them to make progress towards achieving their targets. I have two school age children of my own (Year 8 and Year 6) and so I have also gained experience of homeschooling by successfully supporting them to ensure their timetables are managed and their work is completed without the advantages of the class routines they are used to.

Experience

I worked as a Secondary Religious Studies teacher whilst training under the Schools Direct Programme and have a PGCE in Secondary Education along with Qualified Teacher Status.
I have also worked in a Secondary School with individuals and groups both in classroom and intervention sessions as a Learning Support Assistant and in Infant and Junior Schools both as a classroom Teaching Assistant and one to one Learning Support Assistant for children with additional needs.
My current role is as a tutor for children educated other than at school (EOTAS) in a one to one setting covering functional skills and a tailor-made Maths and English curriculum for KS4 students. I also work with two KS2 and early KS3 students providing private English tuition following the National Curriculum.

City and Guilds level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning
4 A Levels in German, History, Art and General Studies
