I'm an English enthusiast and tutor!
My name is Melissa. I graduated in English and Philosophy last year July with a 2:1. I absolutely love English and always have. I got an A* at GCSE level and a B at A level so I hope that lets you know. Also, it has helped me to share my experiences with those younger than me as they constantly ask for tips on English revision.
Currently, I have two businesses with my sister. One of them is a tutoring business and I’ve tutored quite a few people ranging from 10 years old to postgraduate students and I love it.
I always keep up to date with the latest texts that are being explored in English Literature and the examiners report of the various exam boards. This ensures that I’m constantly alert about particular things that examiners are expecting to find in a essay response. In turn, it benefits my students, as they will always be one step ahead - making sure that they get the best grade possible!
My aim is to motivate and encourage my students to achieve their potentials. I hope to develop my students passion and desire for the English language but also it’s literature. If you find English boring, your not much of a writer or you dislike reading novels, book a session with me and you’ll start to enjoy it with the engaging and interesting resources I’ve set up.

Teaching assistant in year 3 class and various years in a state secondary school.
I’ve taught classes in year 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & Sixth Form and created a brief scheme of work for Key Stage 3 students.
I’ve tutored a student in Functional Skills for English, who struggled deeply with English but fortunately, they passed their exam. As a result, they have gone on to do engineering in college.
Furthermore, I’ve had students from my own tutoring company, who
I had a student who was an A* star student but they struggled with time management. Therefore, in every session we worked on completing timed essays and making sure that timing improved each week - and it did! This shows that I don’t only focus on the tutoring itself but all things including exam preparation, to ensure that our students are confident in every aspect and that no area will let them down.
In addition, I help with proofreading essays and providing high quality revision resources - ranging from spider diagrams, marked and annotated exam papers & detailed examiners reports and much more.
