My background

Hi, my name is Chelsea. I'm 24 years old, and from Birmingham in the United Kingdom. I am very passionate about History, and I am due to start training to become a qualified teacher in the subject from September 2021. I achieved an A* in GCSE History, where I studied 'Medicine Through Time' and 'The American West'. In my A Level History studies I achieved an A. The topics covered on my course were the Making of Modern Britain (1957-2007) and a depth study on totalitarian regimes. I am a recent graduate of the University of Birmingham, with an Undergraduate degree in Political Science with History, and a Masters degree in which I achieved the highest award of a 'distinction' in Political Theory.

My particular academic area of expertise is the Russian Revolution, and the ideologies of Marxism and Leninism that underpinned it; the development and collapse of the Soviet Union; and Nazi Germany and the Third Reich, and the ideologies that underpinned that regime.

I am looking forward to hopefully working with students, and hope that my own passion and love for History will have a positive impact on your learning in this fantastic subject.

Experience

I currently work in a secondary school in Birmingham, in a support role, and have been helping students with their remote learning during the Covid-19 pandemic as part of this role. I have extensive experience working with secondary school age students. I have been an examinations invigilator since 2016, where I work particularly alongside students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Before I started upon my career path to become a teacher, I studied within an academic setting at the University of Birmingham. During my Masters degree I attended and contributed to research groups that were attended by academics from around the world, as well as PhD researchers and my fellow students. All of this experience cultivated a love of not only gaining knowledge, but sharing knowledge and this developed my ambition to teach.
