My background

Hello, my name is Karina and I grew up in London, in a bilingual household, speaking both English and German with my parents. I have been living in Edinburgh for the last 4 years, while studying mechanical engineering and am about to start my last year in September. I always enjoyed Maths at school, which was one of the reasons I chose to study engineering and would like to share my passion of the subject with students of all ages. Experience

I started tutoring while at school, tutoring maths for children in the lower year levels. At university I have tutored a number of students in Nat 5 maths (Scottish equivalent of GCSE), who have gone on to successfully pass their exams. I have also held conversational German classes with a retired man, to maintain his knowledge of the German language. In addition to my tutoring experience I have also worked at summer camps for children between the ages of 4 and 16, as both a camp counselor and as a lifeguard, enabling me to interact with children of all ages in a fun and engaging way.

In the last 6 monts I have also been working as an intern in a construction company, where I worked mainly remotely due to Covid-19. I believe this will help me be able to provide engaging and helpful tutoring sessions through a virtual medium.

Qualifications

Currently final year mechanical engineering

International Baccalaureate - 40 points
Higher level: Physics, Chemistry, History and German
Standard level: English and maths
