My background

I studied Voice Studies (MA Voice Teaching and Coaching) at the internationally renowned Royal Central School of Speech and Drama giving a specialised education in the study and practice of spoken voice in order to pursue a career in voice teaching. This has enabled me to work as a voice coach across business, education, the performing arts and in health and social care. My original studies were as an instrumentalist and singer including performances for radio, stage and in concert throughout the UK. My teaching career has spanned Early Years in Theatre Arts Schools, peripatetic voice teaching in secondary education, performing arts education for children, young people and adults in the community and busy professionals in the corporate setting. I have also worked as a non-clinical academic support worker for students with disability in higher education.

As a voice practitioner and member of the British Voice Association, I regularly participate in professional development opportunities including research undertaken by professionals across the multidisciplinary field of voice. I have a specialist interest in vocal rehabilitation and since 2015 have been privileged to support the specialised multidisciplinary voice team at University Hospital Lewisham in a honorary capacity as Voice Clinic Assistant within the Voice Disorders Clinic, one of the largest in the country. In 2019, I was able to join the Speech and Language Therapy team at UHL as an SLT Assistant whereby I gained valuable experience and extended my skills under the guidance and supervision of the qualified therapists working across a variety of settings including Acute, Stroke and Voice. In addition, I am an experienced HR professional and member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

As part of my continuing interest in disability awareness, I joined the Music Therapy team at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in Putney as a volunteer during 2015-16.
