My background

Hello there! My name is Gurkeerat Sandhu and I am currently studying Law at the University of Birmingham whilst commuting from Wolverhampton. I would describe myself as an organised yet affable person. I am offering tuition for GCSE History, English and Citizenship across several boards as I have plenty of experience with these boards. As a student, I had high attainment across the board. Tuition with myself would be beneficial as I have done both my GCSE and A-Level in recent years - 2017 and 2019 respectively.

I gained an A* at GCSE History. This was the year before all subjects got the 9-1 treatment in terms of grading. I can assure you that this A* Grade, as 383/400 UMS, would have been awarded a Grade 9 if translated. The same can be said for my Citizenship GCSE, with 196/200 UMS equating to a Grade 9. Furthermore, I gained all three possible 9's at GCSE at the time in English Literature, Language and Mathematics - putting myself in the top 0.1% of students in the 2016/17 year. In addition, I gained an A at A-Level, with full marks (A*) in coursework.

Experience

In regard to prior tuition, I would argue that 1-to-1 is the best way to go. This has not only been in History. After my Year 11 success, I had two students in the year below me ask for help for their GCSE's. This was the highlight of my Year 12 outside my own personal studies. The crowning achievement was the work that I did with a wonderful lad named Elgrait. Elgrait had arrived to the UK from Italy 2016 and started at my school shortly after. After a lot of hard work and dedication, he managed to get Grade 9's in English Literature, Language, Physics, Chemistry and History alongside Grade 8's in Mathematics, RE and Biology. Between both of my students, there were eight 9's and no grade below grade 6.

In a more unconventional role, I have also tutored and taught younger children in tabla. This is a percussion instrument that is most associated with Indian Classical music. Both types of these experiences have motivated me to act as a freelance tutor for GCSE level subjects in Wolverhampton. However, I now wish to expand my service nationwide and help young people strive for the best in attainment and aspiration.
