Enthusiastic and friendly History and Politics graduate from the University of York with experience teaching internationally and a passion for working with young people , building their confidence and sharing my love of history.
I have worked at an overnight summer camp for children with ADHD, learning difficulties or on the Autism Spectrum in Canada for two years which involved academic tutoring in small groups of around 4 pupils for an hour daily. My students found that these lessons built their confidence and they were able to get help with anything they were struggling with. I have also taught English in a rural Nepalese school to large classes of 40 students and learnt how to make lessons fun and interactive. As part of preparation for this I completed a 30 hour TEFL course.
My teaching methods are based on what works for the individual but are centred around breaking work up into manageable chunks so it does not become overwhelming. Each person learns differently, and it is important to use different methods to suit different people. I want to make learning an enjoyable experience and boost the confidence of young people. I love working with young people and I am hoping to start a teaching qualification in September 2021.
