My background

Ensemble and solo multi-instrumentalist specialising in electric and bass guitars with basic drum and keyboard skills. Experience touring, and recording both in Large ensembles and as a band. Private tutor of guitar, compositon and conducting. Regularly commissioned composer, with a portfolio across opera, community orchestra, soloists and small chamber groups. International Composers+ Summer Academy alumni and recently commissioned by Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera. Conductor with a focus on contemporary music as well as founder and musical director of York based Guitorchestra.

Experience

I have had 14 years experience as a solo and ensemble performer. My first study instrument is the electric guitar and I have toured, recorded and done session work as a guitarist, notably touring with York Big Band in Lisbon and appearing on Alice Ostapjuk’s ‘Days of the week’ album as lead guitarist. I have done session work as a bass guitarist for Guy Matthews’ ‘Loser EP’ as well as Sleevenote Society’s self titled EP. In addition I have played drums in the psychedelic jazz rock band ‘Larkhall’, touring across the west midlands. As a musician I have had experience in almost every genre of music from contemporary classical and the avante garde to samba and swing plus jazz, pop and rock. I now pass my experience, knowledge and passion through teaching people of all ages and skill sets including young children.
