My background

I am a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Reading. I work for the Department of History and the Department of Languages and Cultures. I am also an experienced tutor in English, History and French.

I love teaching, and helping to inspire students to learn. I believe that building confidence is key, as well as encouraging students to feel passionate about their own learning. Every student is different, and I believe that it is essential to adapt to the different learning styles and personalities of each student. Learning should never feel boring, and I do my very best to help students feel at ease. I endeavour to build up confidence and link learning to the world around us.

Experience

I am a Sessional Lecturer in both French and History at the University of Reading. On the undergraduate French programme, I teach a second year translation module and French history modules. I am also an examiner for the Oral exams.
I adore France, and its language. I lived in the south of France for a year, and spent six months researching in Paris for my doctorate. I have experience teaching beginners French to very young children and use games and interactive learning to engage young learners. I also teach beginners French to adult learners and believe in adapting lessons to suit their personal motivations for learning the language.
I have experience guiding students through both GCSE and A level French, for both AQA and Edexcel.
During my Masters year, I also taught Business French to employees of a British company with French clients.
