My background

I hold a First Class Honours degree from the University of Birmingham in French and Italian and a PGCE Secondary MFL qualification from Warwick University. I'm happy to tutor both primary and secondary age students as well as adult learners. I am enthusiastic and adaptable and will cater your sessions to your exact needs, making sure to cover reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. I am very familiar with the AQA GCSE and A Level curricula although I am more than happy to teach content outside of the standard schemes of work.

During my undergraduate years I focussed my studies on translation, history, politics, feminist theory and film analysis and would be thrilled to incorporate any of these into your sessions if you so wish. I am also a self-confessed grammar nerd and have a bookshelf of great books and resources that I can share with you.

Experience

Before undertaking my PGCE, I worked as a teaching assistant in a sixth form college. This role required me to plan and deliver 1-to-1 tuition to both A Level French and Italian students. These lessons focussed on grammar, content and speaking practice. Whilst undertaking this voluntary placement, I also completed a 3-month stint in a local prep school where I worked mainly with year 5, 6,7 and 8 students. I also have experience working with children with SEND needs, and I really enjoyed assisting with the special needs department whilst completing a week-long voluntary placement at a local comprehensive school.

For the last year, I have undertaken my PGCE training at Arden Academy in Solihull. Although my specialist subject is French, I have also taught Spanish and Italian. I have really enjoyed both the academic and practical aspects of the course and have been awarded 'Outstanding' in my final assessment check. I will beginning my NQT year in September at North Leamington School, Warwickshire.
