My background

Hello there! I have taught GCSE and KS3 Maths for almost 2 years now and helped many students under another tutoring agency called ‘Explore Learning’ to achieve their goals and become far more confident mathematicians. I was also the first year to so the current Maths GCSE and achieved a grade 9(A*), so I know how much harder it has become.

The following year after GCSE’s, I was accepted into a Physics summer school at the University of Oxford; I spent the week researching and learning about the mechanisms of the space probe designed for the Mars ‘Insight’ Mission.

I now study Civil Engineering Masters degree at Loughborough University, one of the top 10 universities in the U.K. I chose civil engineering because of how vast of a degree it is. We are currently learning how to coding data to predict weather patterns to writing reports to re-designing the supports for existing structures. In my free time, I love reading, as well as playing the piano, electric guitar or harmonica. To keep fit, I train three times a week because I play Midland regional Handball and I am an official member of the England Handball Association.

Experience

From my experience at Explore Learning, I believe the act of learning is a combination of excellent memorisation techniques, practice and boundless curiosity. I always try to encourage my students to ask as many questions as possible, get them to explain their own thought processes and then regularly test them to see what they've fully understood - pushing them even further when they do.

I have also developed strong administrative talents with a proven ability to document, track, and update student progress through formal reporting procedures. This is used as a guide to identify the most suitable areas of the subject to focus on and tackle, which rapidly improved their results. Consequentially, I was awarded ‘Tutor of the Quarter’ within the first six months of practice within the agency.
