I am deeply passionate about teaching languages and particularly enjoy teaching at primary level. I ensure my lessons promote independent inquiries, are child-centred, interactive, effective and fun. I regularly use sign language and songs in my lessons, a memory tool I have found to be particularly effective, especially for those who find MFL challenging. I use various language assessment strategies to actively assess the four key language learning skills; speaking, listening, reading and writing. In summary, I am creative and innovative with a passion for language teaching.
I qualified with a PGCE in MFL in 2005 from Manchester Metropolitan University and hold qualified teacher status. I have more than ten years’ experience as an MFL teacher in primary school teaching French and/or Spanish and I am currently working as Head of Languages at Yarlet an independent preparatory school for boys and girls. I actually teach French and Spanish from year 1 to year 8 and I also prepare pupils for the Iseb French Common Entrance at the end of year 8. I have this year delivered online the MFL curriculum at KS2 and KS3
