My background

I am a Trainee Primary school teacher who has 5years+ experience working with children in a school environment. I graduated in 2013 with a BA Hons in English with a 2:1 from Queens University Belfast.

I have travelled and worked for many years abroad in countries including China and Hong Kong. I am very experienced in Ks1/Ks2 and Early years teaching as well as Teaching English as a Foreign Language to all ages.

I am very friendly, compassionate and my approachability and empathy allow me to build lasting bonds with all my students.

Experience

Shortly after graduating, I moved to China where I taught English as a second language to young Chinese students. My experience teaching abroad gave me the opportunity to teach children of all primary ages and abilities. I gained exceptional interpersonal skills and confidence in front of a class, as well as being able to create close and nurturing relationships with children. During my time in China, I taught children aged between 4 and 7 years old with a focus on reading and writing.

After living in China, I moved to another teaching job in Hong Kong where I was able to broaden my experience by teaching children as young as 12months old, up to ages of 4years old. The kindergarten I worked at specialised in a Montessori style curriculum, therefore I was able to learn and experience the importance of learning through play.

I returned to the UK in the summer of 2018 and since then I have been working as a Teaching Assistant in an Ofsted rated outstanding primary school. I have been working primarily in Year 2, which has allowed me to further evolve my classroom management skills and to gain knowledge of the national curriculum and standards. I have witnessed the importance of creating a safe and stimulating environment for children through positive behavior management. I have developed strong relationships with the children I work with and am able to adapt my teaching style to suit them. I enjoy working 1:1 and with small groups of children of varying ages.

-3 Alevels in English Literature, French and Business
-9 GCSE's A*-B Grade
-120 hours TEFL certificate
-Currently a Trainee teacher and working towards QTS and PGCE
