My background

I am originally from Belfast but have spent the last twelve years teaching and tutoring in the UK and internationally.

Throughout this time, I have taught a great range of age and ability from Key Stage 1 to adult learners. While I have tutored many students at Key Stage 3, predominantly my experience is in tutoring GCSE and IGCSE English Language and Literature and, as a GCSE exam marker, help my students understand exactly what examiners are looking for. During three years of tutoring in London, I also tutored many students for Common entrance and 11+ exams with the majority getting accepted to their first choice of school. Having lived and worked internationally for seven years, I have a great deal of experience and expertise in teaching English as an Additional Language, including for Cambridge EAL exams.

throughout my teaching and tutoring career, I have always been complimented on my ability to build strong and productive relationships with my students. I work hard to assess each student's individual needs and tailor their learning appropriately. My students enjoy lessons and feel like they build, not only, their skills and knowledge but also their confidence in the subjects I tutor.
