Introducing Rhys

My background

Since completing my degree, earning a First in Linguistics and Spanish from St. Catherine's College, Oxford, tutoring has become the mainstay of my work.

My speciality is Spanish, though I always hope for aspiring Linguistics students! For Spanish, this is for all levels, from GCSE through to early undergraduate work. I also regularly work at Oxbridge admissions-focussed events for both schools and the general public, as an experienced mock interviewer, seminar leader, and test coach.

When tutoring, I do not use the word "lesson"; that's a poor description of the dynamic. Students have a goal, and it is the task of both me and a student to work towards that goal. I have a very informal style in the session, but I hope to back this up with good communication and organisation behind the scenes.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and snooker (even though I'm hopeless at it).

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT

Tutor, Oxbridge Applications, London — 2012 - (ongoing)
Oxbridge Applications provides a range of services for A-Level students looking to apply to Oxford and Cambridge. My responsibilities include:
- tuition for groups and private students across a range of subjects
- administrating and co-running events at schools (and larger functions)

Tutor, Griffin + Bell, London — 2018 - (ongoing)
I provide private tuition for students sitting either A-Level or Pre-U Spanish, as well as assisting students with Oxbridge admissions preparation.

Tutor, Oxford Science Studies — 2018 - (ongoing)
OXSS is a intensive revision school that prepares students for exams during the school holidays. I provide one-on-one and small-group tuition for students preparing for official Spanish examinations for all exam boards and specifications: GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, Pre-U, IB.
