My background

I am a maths graduate with a teaching qualification and full DBS.

In a former career, I saw how much trouble my favourite subject caused so many and my full time teaching career was largely involved with those that had failed at school or had little schooling. This has all taught me a great deal about the different ways that students `see` maths.

Many students come to feel that they cannot do maths, whereas it is usually that nobody has tried to find out how they learn or how they see the symbols that maths uses. Overcoming this lack of confidence and showing students what they can do is a key stage on the road to maths success,

My passion, therefore is to overcome the low esteem and even fear many students feel regarding maths. I aim to develop a positive attitude to it, become confident and to succeed. For those already enjoying maths, I aim to develop their skills to the maximum.
