My background

I have been a science teacher for almost 30 years and a school leader for 20, leading a sports college for 10 of those. I have advised on 3 editions of the UK national curriculum for science, have had work published in the School Science Review and also had education resources published. I have consistently helped pupils exceed their own expectations and target grades and I am passionate about learning and teaching this wonderful subject. I became head of science at Oaklands School in 1998 and in a year took the department from being the lowest achieving to the highest achieving in the City of York.
