My background

Hi,

My name is Ellie and I am a soon-to-be graduate (I graduate from the University of Bristol in July 2020). I am an enthusiastic, charismatic person with a genuine love for learning. I have had an aptitude for English Literature and Language since I was very young, which lead me to go on to study it at undergraduate level. I have great verbal and written communication skills and am eager to help children at any English Language skill level, starting with basic spelling, punctuation and grammar. I am also able to teach more advanced skills up to GCSE level, for example comprehension, essay-writing and structuring, literary analysis and other fine skills needed to succeed in exams.

I have also studied Philosophy to undergraduate level and I am capable of teaching Religious Studies or Philosophy to GCSE level. I am also happy to review and give detailed feedback on personal statements for university courses in either English or Philosophy (or a combination of both).

Experience

I am a final year student at the University of Bristol, graduating in July 2020. I am predicated a First Class Honours BA in English and Philosophy. I am pursuing an MSc in Marketing at Queen Mary University of London in September 2020.

I have experience volunteering with children at primary school level and am very familiar with most secondary school English Literature and Language curricula taught in England. When I was at secondary school, I undertook a week of work experience in a primary school, working with Year 3 and 4 children. I volunteered in Morocco in the Summer of 2017, working on a construction project at a primary school, which involved teaching and learning from the school's pupils.

I also have experience working in the House of Commons as well as at international infrastructure firm AECOM , where I filled administrative roles. I have excellent communication skills and am able to work to tight deadlines when necessary. I am well-organised and capable of managing a busy and complex workload. I am empathetic and approachable and can tailor my teaching style to suit each child's needs.

Qualifications

Education:

I achieved 10 A* and 1 A at higher-tier GCSE (2015) and 2 A* and 1 A at A-Level (2017). My A Levels are in English Literature, Classical Civilisations and Philosophy and Ethics.

I also have an A in AS Level Government and Politics.
