Details

My background

I have been working in the theatre industry for the last few years as a director touring opera productions and educational projects as well as directing plays and leading workshops. I have lived and worked across Europe settling in France, the Czech Republic, Norway and Sweden, which has given me a wide understanding of different cultures, literatures and languages. I have always thought of directing as a type of teaching/ people development and I have been moving more towards education in the last two years working on theatre in education projects and having recently finished my Master's degree in arts education from the University of Cambridge.

Experience

Throughout 2019 I staff directed Peace at Last an opera for children based on the book by Jill Murphy that toured nationally to UK schools and theatres. In 2017 I worked on the Scandinavian premiere of Broken Biscuits a play for young people by Tom Wells and during my time working on the production I assisted with workshop/ lecture provision in local schools and the University of Gothenburg. I've also led workshops with young people in association with Ice & Fire Theatre Company and the RSC. During my time living in the Czech Republic I worked as an English teacher in a preschool in Prague, I have also worked as a nanny/ English teacher in Paris and in a nursery at the University of Bath. In 2018 I completed my MPhil in Arts, Creativity and Education at the University of Cambridge and in 2013 I completed my joint honours BA at the University of Birmingham in English Literature and Drama.

My areas of specialism are English Literature & Language, Theatre Studies and Arts Education.
