In my teaching career, I have derived great satisfaction in being able to: pioneer the creation of a learning environment conducive to encouraging the nurturing, development, and building trust in each learner; successfully embed unconditional positive regard in interaction with individual learners; effectively motivate and inspire learners to take ownership of their learning, whilst supporting them to succeeding in attaining their academic targets and holistic aspirations.
Teaching students, stretching their learning, motivating and inspiring them and watching each one of them, positively progress to achieving their stated goals; have left me feeling triumphant in my purpose for choosing to teach as a career. However, providing 1-1 academic and holistic additional learning support to an access student diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and self-harm, for them to be able to succeed on their college course and gain university entrance to study mental health; will undoubtedly continue to stand out as one of the major highpoints in my professional teaching career.
