A professional English tutor for 20 years, I have worked with children, teenagers, and adult from across the globe. I have shown people how to communicate more effectively, how to write the academic essays or creative writing pieces that teachers and examiners want, how to really analyse and interpret novels, poems, and plays.
I lived in Poland for 4 years, teaching traditional ESOL lessons as well as Callan Method classes. On my return to the UK, I worked extensively with the east European community, spending 2 years as the ESOL Skills for Life tutor at the local college, and for Leeds City College and North Yorkshire County Council, teaching refugees from the Middle East and Africa to integrate into British society.
Moving into online teaching, I created the full, 15-level curriculum, including all lesson plans and teaching materials for the Chinese company UKID, for whom I also wrote a series of 3-level, 10-lesson courses in creative writing, academic writing, and critical thinking skills for language and literature students.
In my private practice, I have extensive experience preparing students for the GCSE English language and literature exams, and the IELTS and OET exams for professional people.
