My name is Andy Williams and I am a Science Teacher at Shoreham Academy in West Sussex. I have worked for Shoreham Academy for six years.I love Science and really enjoy working with young people helping them achieve their goals. I am passionate about education and want to keep teaching but would also like to mix it with a more pastoral role as I think supporting the mental health of young people is as important as education.
I'm originally from Ireland but have been living in the UK for 8 years. I also used to live and work in a wildlife sanctuary in Costa Rica and play in a couple of bands.
I trained as a Science teacher with United Teaching and Goldsmith's and received my PGCE and QTS in 2019.
- I worked for 18 months as a Learning Support Assistant at Shoreham Academy supporting students with challenging behaviour and SEND. My main role was teaching Science.
- Following the Learning Support role I then worked for 18 months managing the Behaviour Room at Shoreham Academy, again with students with challenging behaviour and SEND.
- In 2018 I began my PGCE with United Teaching and Goldsmith's university. I remained at Shoreham Academy for my training year and gained employment in the Science Department in 2019 and have been there ever since as a full time Science Teacher.
- Undergraduate Degree in Horticulture from UCD, Dublin Ireland - 2010.
- PGCE and QTS from United Teaching and Goldsmiths University London - 2019.
