I have been teaching for over 5 years and I love to teach because I like to share and spread the knowledge that I have with the children. I like the whole environment of school where it is not only the children who learn but even the teacher gets to learn from the children. I have taught Science and English to the age group of 9-10 years old in India other than being their class teacher. I have a high interest in helping students gain skills and success and being a part of their journey gives me a great joy of happiness.
I adapt my approach to identify and meet the needs of all children. Every child is different and therefore, the teaching methods and the resources used also need to be different and apt for them. I used to make different level worksheets for the children, used different teaching methodologies for better learning and gave them different tasks to complete based on their learning abilities to make them feel good about their progress and have a sense of achievement.
Other than the regular classroom teaching, I also enjoyed to be a part of the extra- curricular activities in the school like after school clubs for older students. This has widened my knowledge and skills as the interaction was different and at times challenging but I was advised by senior staff how to interact and handle various challenges. My experience in helping with the extra- curricular activities had led me to be in charge for Science club wherein the focus was on the hands-on activities and experiments.
During my classroom teaching, I used to make sure that all the students are focused in the class and I achieved this by asking questions in between the class. The questions asked by the students which were even out of the context were well answered by me. This made the students enjoy my class as they knew that they could approach me for any query at any time.
While working at KAPS Croydon as a year1 TA. I conducted Phonics intervention for a group of 8 children, provided the whole class support on the carpet, provided 1:1 SEN support in language, modelling and context, Table hopping and questioning, conferencing and facilitating in whole class teaching, whole classroom Math catch up, English and Math intervention for small groups.
I have a good sense of humor that is important to keep the teaching and learning healthy and enjoyable.
