Experience

Hello, I’m Susie and I am an art graduate, currently working in London both as an artist and teacher/tutor. Since graduating from the Glasgow School of Art in 2010 I have been working as a professional artist; I just received my masters in sculpture from the Royal College of Art in June 2019. Alongside this I am an experienced teacher.

I aim to be a very motivational tutor, trying to be as positive as possible and I try to minimise stress levels by being calm and approachable.

I tailor each lesson to my student's individual needs and have experience working with a wide range of age groups. I am flexible with the times and locations I can work.

I have at PTLLS qualification for teaching in the lifelong learning sector and I also have a CELTA.

English as a foreign language-
I am a CELTA qualified teacher.
I have been teaching since 2010 in language teaching and private tutoring. I have taught in schools and one on one and can teach IELTS, PET, CAE, CPE and general English.

Art and Design/Art History-
I also have a number of years of experience teaching Art and Art History. I currently teach one day a week on the Foundation Art course at St.Andrews College in Cambridge. This involves teaching art and history of art.

I have tutored students in art at pre university and university level. I have helped with essays and with the preparation of portfolios and interview practice. My interview practice experience includes Oxbridge preparation.

I have also done sessions guest lecturing at the University of Cambridge in the history of art department and the Judge Business School and I have lectured at Anglia Ruskin University. I work on weekends throughout the year as an artist educator at the Fitzwilliam Museum and other university museums on behalf of Cambridge University. I have assisted with workshops at the Royal British Society of Sculptors and led workshops with Access Arts.

I have taught young people and adults of all ages from varied backgrounds and diverse cultures.

Deisgn Technology/ Product Design
I have also tutored Design and Technology GCSE and A level to a number of students since 2010. I studied A-level DT myself and AS Level textiles so I have a good idea of what is involved for both the coursework and the exam.

Organisational studies
I have tutored organisational studies where I have helped students to revise and organise their workload more effectively. This involves helping with timetables, mind-maps, organisation of revision materials and creating other revision tools.

11+
I am trained to and have tutored students in 7+ and 11+. In these subjects I have focused on verbal and non verbal reasoning, English and maths. I have also led sessions specifically on creative writing and comprehension.

Film Studies and Media Studies
I have tutored film and media studies, helping with the coursework and essay practice for exams.
