My background

I have a passion for English and try to pass this on to my students. I have a very methodical way of teaching techniques required to pass exams. However, English is not just about the destination, it’s about the journey and bringing characters to life, recognising author’s intentions and all the other multi-faceted parts of the subject. English transcends every part of life and is a subject crucial to a successful future.

Experience

I have taught Secondary English for almost fifteen years. The first ten years, I was teaching in mainstream schools in deprived, inner-city schools. In the past few years, I have taught Secondary age students in an independent school, for children with SEND. This has been incredibly rewarding and has allowed children who have otherwise been unsuccessful in mainstream education gain GCSE qualifications.
