My background

Hello there, I'm from an SEN and Counselling background so have a variety of ways to offer support to you or your child:

1. English tuition for ages 4-16; particularly for those who struggle with anxiety, dyslexia, dyspraxia or ASD ---
2. English support to those who speak English as an additional language. [TEFL qualified.] ---
3. Support for those managing anxiety, motivation or low self esteem in relation to their school work - My most recent experience is as a school (mental health) counsellor, in both primary and secondary schools. ---
4. Cover letter and CV writing support, and employability skills. ---

If your child is a little older, and considering a career in the mental health sector, I can offer an introduction to counselling skills based on a course I developed when training peer counsellors at my previous school (2016-2020).

Students and parents in the past have described me as warm and approachable, my trademark is an ability to meet the student where they are at, and use strengths-based approaches to help them uncover their potential, even during this period of less face-to-face contact. --------------------

I'm supportive and patient, and work particularly well with those who lack confidence. I like to work creatively, and have developed some playful ways to communicate and challenge online over the past year. I am based in Wales and have just begun a part-time MSc in Sustainability, which I’d eventually like to combine with my experience in mental health to reach marginalised and vulnerable young people. Experience

In the lead up to becoming a school counsellor I worked as a learning support assistant in London, with SEN children and teenagers from 2009-14, progressing to teaching life skills and mentoring young people through work experience placements. I also worked in private English tuition for school refusers and children with learning difficulties. (2013-16)
I have been a school counsellor since 2013, and have been private tutoring to supplement my income in the intervening years.
Most recently I've spent four years at an international school in Malaysia, and bring from there a breadth of experience of learners from different cultures.
In 2005 I achieved a TEFL qualification and taught English to adults in Mexico, and afterwards for a short while to EAL students in London.
