My background

I am a motivated and enthusiastic recent graduate of the University of Oxford who will commence an MsC in Law and Business at the University of Law in September as part of the process to become a qualified Solicitor. Studying at an academically rigorous institution which provides extensive one-on-one teaching has meant that I am able to express myself clearly and coherently when explaining difficult concepts, as well as providing me with strong essay-writing skills, which I hope to pass on to any potential students.

I have a strong track-record of high academic attainment and demonstrable experience of acting in a tutor/mentor role, and am able to provide tuition in a range of subjects including Law, English Literature and Language, History, Government and Politics, along with providing advice on the Oxbridge admissions process and guidance relating to the LNAT.

Experience

I have held a range of roles which have enhanced my tutoring experience, including:

Providing one-on-one support to aspiring Lawyers through an online platform when acting as a mentor on the Sutton Trust's 'Pathways to Law' programme. This included providing advice on succeeding with the LNAT exam and Oxbridge Admissions guidance.

Providing support and guidance to students hoping to apply to high-level Russel Group Universities in my role as a Linklaters Oxford Law Access Ambassador for the Law Faculty, including holding mock Tutorials/Interviews in a range of subjects (including History, English and Law) and delivering presentations on the admissions process to large groups of students and parents.

Assisting students aged 8-11 with their literacy and comprehension skills in my role as a 'Reading Buddy' with a previous employer's 'Right to Read' scheme. This involved working on techniques to enhance students' literacy skills at various levels, from building the foundational reading skills to working on comprehension and broader critical understanding of texts.

I also have extensive experience of working in a professional legal setting from recently working as a Paralegal post-graduation in a large city firm, to working in a UK Top 15 Firm's Birmingham Office as a Legal Support Co-Ordinator during my gap year. This strengthened my knowledge of the operation of Law in practice, and has also enhanced my communication skills through the explanation of (often complex) legal concept to clients.
