Maths
Having studied Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-level, I am now doing Engineering at the University of Warwick, taking these 3 subjects and using them to design and model real-world situations such a formula 1 car driving at top speed or a plane soaring through the air.
I have liked maths since a young age, enjoying understanding and following the logic of different methods. I believe that for each method you should understand fully where it comes from and how it works as if you simply learn a set of steps to follow without knowing why it works then it defies the point of learning it, as it may get you through a basic test, but you wont know how to apply it in harder situations.
In order to understand some of the harder topics during my first year of A-level, I had a maths tutor and found that having a regular 1-1 where I could pick the topic and learn exactly what I needed very useful to target what I needed to do, and actually helped me get ahead of my class.
As I got closer to my exams, I stepped up my revision, churning through past papers and textbooks, and found that for each topic, each question followed a trend. Each one follows the same basic structure, asking for the same things but wording then slightly differently. Once I found the basic structure of questions for each topic, I felt less stressed and much more prepared for my exams.
