Miranda Glikson graduated from studies in dance and performance at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane Australia in 1994. In her career as a performer, choreographer and educator she has worked in contemporary, dance theatre, and ballet companies as well as freelance in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and Germany. In education she has worked as a trainer and choreographic assistant in the German theatre and freelance scene. She has been employed in institutions, university settings and dance houses, and in community-based projects. In 2014 she received a Masters Degree in Contemporary Dance Education at the Frankfurt Academy of Music and Performing Arts and in 2015 began her practice-led PhD research in Choreographic Practices at the School of Creative Practice at QUT, Brisbane. Currently she performs frequently in performance improvisation contexts and is undertaking training to become a Feldenkrais practitioner.
As a dance practitioner and educator I am thoroughly experienced in various contemporary dance and modern dance techniques, ballet and somatic movement approaches. I have been devising ballet classes for contemporary movers of all levels and I introduce a gentle, somatic approach to all techniques. I teach improvisation and composition, and relate strongly to awareness methods. I have been teaching dance to various target groups including professional dancers, students, adolescents, children and adult non-professional dancers. I has comprehensive knowledge of dance history and dance and performance theory in the areas of contemporary dance, site-based performance, post-modern, modern dance and conceptual dance. I have comprehensive research skills and experience in mentorship and tutoring.
