My background

I am a first year student at King’s College London, undertaking a BA in Classical Studies with English. My studies have facilitated the development of strong oral and written communicational skills, which I have previously implemented in retail work at my local branch of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill. Past work experience as a Special Olympics coach, as an assistant in a nursing home and as a tutor in French has similarly enhanced these competences and understandings, with a dimension of teaching and compassion, which I would like to apply in a teaching role for subjects that I love so that others can enjoy them and succeed.

Experience

I completed A Levels in English Literature, French and Psychology in 2020, and can provide tutoring in each of these subjects to this level.

I have past experience as a French tutor for GCSE, so understand the course and standards necessary for success in this area.

My degree is partly in English Literature and I have studied all the texts on the GCSE English Literature syllabus so can provide tutoring for this level.

I have an AS qualification in History and my degree is in Classical Studies, so can provide teaching on the skills of argumentation and analysis necessary for the GCSE/A Level qualification.

I have experience teaching individuals with disabilities (as a Special Olympics Ireland volunteer and from tutoring my friend with autism on financial management as a summer job) so can connect easily with students of a variety of needs.

AS Level in History (A)

Irish Junior Certificate English, Irish, Maths, Science (AAAA), 6 additional subjects with grade A in each one.

Special Olympics Ireland Volunteer – I trained participants with autism to swim every Sunday from September 2016 until June 2018.

Achieved Grade 6 qualification in piano with the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

Linguistics – can speak very confidently in French, have also studied German, Irish, Latin and Ancient Greek to GCSE/Junior Certificate level.
