Hi, I’m Isaac and I am looking to help students develop their maths skills and find a passion for the subject. I am currently taking a gap year, after which I will be studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of York. Earlier this year I spent three months volunteering with the charity Raleigh International in Nepal, working alongside rural farmers in order to improve livelihoods in the earthquake-afflicted Gorkha district.
I believe anyone can learn to love maths and over the past two years I have personally tutored students ranging from Year 8 to GCSE level, helping them all to improve their exam results and develop an enjoyment for the subject. As a student, I understand that it’s not always easy absorbing new material and understanding new concepts, so I am here to help and keen to share my knowledge.
Over the past two years I have worked regularly face-to-face with students in my local area, ranging in age from Year 8 to Year 11, who all saw markedly improved test scores. I have received excellent feedback from both parents and students. As a physics and maths subject mentor in Sixth Form, I have experience helping students understand difficult concepts effectively. I have further experience working with young people having volunteered coaching the under-16s group at my local hockey club.
I received 7 A*s and 4 As at GCSE, including A*s in Mathematics, Physics and English and AAA (Mathematics, Physics, Geography) at A level. I have confirmed an offer to study Politics, Economics and Philosophy at the University of York later this year.
