My background

I have 6 years experience tutoring 4-14 year olds, privately and as a director of a children's tuition centre (part of a national chain). I have previously tutored maths, English, and entrance exam preparation for this age range, with high levels of success in achieving admissions to selective schools, improving NC levels, and having some fun while we do it! I am currently available for English (including phonics, reading, and creative writing), 11+ and entrance exam preparation (all papers).

I follow National Curriculum methodology to reinforce and practice what your child will be learning at school, and cover main English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning requirements in entrance exams.

My tutoring sessions are organised into small chunks to provide variety. Sessions build incrementally on what has been covered previously to create a balance of confidence-building and new content in every session. I use reward systems and recognise effort and concentration as well as attainment.

I am experienced in supporting and tailoring my tutoring for children with additional needs including dyslexia, dyscalculia, ASD, and Aspergers, as well as those identified as Gifted and Talented.

I have two small children myself.
