My background

Determined and friendly maths tutor in my final year, studying Mathematics at the University of Manchester, specializing in KS2/KS3/(I)GCSE/A-Level teaching and exam preparation for students. I have a passion for teaching maths to students so they could reach their potential and could go on to achieve excellent grades. One of the challenges I had faced academically was finding effective revision techniques. I understand that students have many exams in a short time scale, and as someone who has had three exams in one day, I have gained techniques to help students best prepare for busy exam periods. One of the critical aspects of succeeding in Maths is practicing exam questions; this will help prove your fluency as well as your ability to manage time during the exam. Hence, why exam questions, tips, and techniques will be a consistent theme of my lessons. I will also give students time to ask questions and consolidate their learning.

Experience

Having taught and studied mathematics throughout my academic career, I have gained a deep understanding of many of the difficult concepts and challenges faced in the subjects. Having been a peer mentor in college, I realized topics such as trigonometry, calculus, statistics, and algebra, mechanics aren't easy topics to grasp straight away. It takes someone to break it down for you to make it easier to understand. This is something I believe I can achieve and provide to my students. My lessons will focus on individual student needs and I will adapt my teaching techniques to best suit each student. In terms of teaching style, I will like to keep my lessons simple but effective. Firstly, I explain the topics at a pace suited for the student. In the 2nd half of the lesson, I will go through worked examples to give an outline on how to answer difficult questions. To test the student's understanding, I will provide problems for them to solve, which I will check in my own time. I believe my friendly and direct teaching method will help students succeed in mathematics.
