My background

For me success for students' learning is about creating the right 'space' to connect and establish positive tutor-student relationships. As a highly experienced teacher of 30 years,
- teaching all subjects at primary and Maths to secondary students up to Year 11, I come alongside those who find Maths daunting and teach them to experience success by breaking the learning into manageable chunks. I enjoy extending motivated and talented Maths students and encouraging all students to develop a 'have a go' attitude. I have a strong belief in giving students opportunities to excel and to see purpose in their learning and listen to where the problem really is and find creative ways to teach a learning point. The challenges of working in different school cultures with the ability to quickly establish supportive and positive relationships with young students helps me to offer valuable supportive students.

Experience

I have taught full time since 1989 schools in the UK, then overseas in the Middle East. I have been part of the Maths team, Head of PSHCE and Common Entrance. Exams. I have been a Supply Teacher since 2016 and provide 1-1 tutoring home based learning for students who are not reaching the standard in class and those who require extended learning. I'm an Edexcel examiner with regular "marks to a high standard" feedback.
